About Patrick O’Connor, Ph.D.

Patrick O’Connor is associate dean of college counseling at Cranbrook Schools in metropolitan Detroit, and instructor of one of the few graduate courses in the United States on college counseling, offered through the University of Sioux Falls.  A counselor for 34 years, Patrick is the author of six books on counseling and counseling issues, including the student-based college guide College is Yours 2.0 and the counselor book, College Counseling for School Counselors.  A past president of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, Patrick is the inaugural School Counselor Ambassador Fellow with the US Department of Education and was the first member of his family to graduate from college.  He writes regular columns on counseling issues for HS Counselor Week and ​Admissions Intel.
